Pyaaz Paratha |Onion Paratha | Stuffed Onion Flatbread


Hello Foodies,
Onion Paratha is a delicious and very popular Indian dish. It is one of the quick and easy to cook the dish. These delicious stuffed parathas are loved by all. It can be served with Curd/ Raita/ Pickle/ Tomato Ketchup/ Chutney/ Tea.
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 30 minutes
Yield: 5 Parathas
Ingredients:
For Stuffing:-
- Onion ~ 3 - 4, medium size
- Ginger ~ 1 tsp, grated
- Green chilli ~ 2 - 3, chopped
- Red chilli powder ~ ½ tsp
- Amchur powder/ Dry mango powder ~ 1/3 tsp
- Garam masala powder ~ ¾ tsp
- Coriander leaves finely chopped ~ 2 Tbsp
- Lemon juice ~ ½ tsp
- Salt to taste
For Dough:-
- Whole wheat flour ~ 1 cup
- Ghee ~ 2 tsp
- Ajwain/ carom seeds ~ a pinch
- Nigella seeds/ Kalonji ~ ¼ tsp
- Water as required
- Salt ~ a pinch
Other ingredients:-
- Ghee ~ for frying parathas
How to Prepare:
- Take whole wheat flour, kalonji, ajwain, salt and ghee in a bowl. Mix well and start adding a little water at a time and knead into soft and smooth dough. Keep it aside.
- Chop onions, coriander leaves and green chillies. Grate the ginger.
- In a bowl combine all the ingredients listed under “For Stuffing”.
- Again knead the dough to smooth it out and divide it into 5 equal portions. Make a smooth ball.
- Take one ball, roll into 3-4 inch diameter circle.
- Put the stuffing inside and seal it by gathering the edges into the centre.Flatten it using hand and then roll out the paratha.
- Place it on a hot tava and cook over medium flame.
- When tiny bubbles start to rise to the surface, flip it and reduce flame to low.
- Spread ½ tsp ghee around its edge with the help of a spatula and cook for approx 30-40 seconds. Flip it again and spread ½ tsp ghee around its edge.
- Press it with the spatula and cook for another 30-40 seconds over medium flame. Cook till it becomes golden brown in colour.
- Repeat the same process for rest of the paratha.
- Serve with Pickle and Tea.
