Masala Papad


Hello Foodies,
Masala Papad is the best alternative for plain papad. Masala Papad is an easy and yummy starter recipe. It is one of the chatpat - jhatpat snacks recipe. It is the recipe in which the crispy fried papad is topped with masala filling of onions, tomato and Indian spices. One can use large papads or medium sized papad.
Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Yield: 2 servings
Ingredients:
- Papad ~ 4, medium - size
- Onion ~ 1, large
- Tomato ~ 2, medium
- Ginger ~ ½ tsp, grated
- Green chili ~ 2
- Coriander leaves ~ 2 Tbsp
- Lemon juice ~ 1 or 2 tsp
- Dry Mango Powder (amchur powder) ~ a pinch
- Chat masala ~ 1 tsp
- Roasted cumin powder ~ 1 tsp
- Red chili powder ~ 1/3 tsp
- Black salt ~ as required to taste
- Oil ~ as required ( for frying papad)
How to Prepare:
- Chop onion, tomatoes, green chili, coriander leaves and grate ginger.
- In a bowl add finely chopped onions, tomatoes, green chili, grated ginger, amchur powder, chat masala,roasted cumin powder, red chili powder, lemon juice and black salt.
- Mix it well.
- Heat oil in a pan and slid the papad into hot oil.
- Fry papad for few seconds till the papad is crisp and with a tong remove the papad and drain the oil.
- Place the fried papads on a paper napkin so that excess oil is absorbed.
- Spread the masala filling on the fried papads.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
- Serve masala papad immediately.
NOTE : **Masala filling must be made just before you fry the papads. ** If you are using large papads then break the papad into 4 pieces or use it as it is.
